What will you be doing in this role?
The Patient Service Representative I (PSR I) plays a vital role in facilitating patient care. This role primarily involves answering telephones, taking accurate messages, scheduling patient appointments, and managing patient referrals. The Patient Service Representative I demonstrate professionalism and productivity while maintaining a positive interaction with our patients.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists in patient check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring all necessary forms are completed and signed.
- Collects copayments and verifies insurance eligibility with an understanding of basic healthcare insurance benefits.
- Updates patient demographic and insurance information in the CS-Link system accurately and timely.
- Schedules and coordinates patient appointments under supervision.
- Assists in managing physician schedules, handling patient/provider correspondence as directed.
- Provides general administrative support, including answering phones, routing calls, and managing medical records.
- Coordinates and manages patient referrals and authorizations, ensuring that patient interactions comply with healthcare regulatory standards and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's best practices.
- Contributes to maintaining a clean and safe environment in the reception and waiting areas.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED - Required.
- At least 6 months experience working with insurance companies and obtaining authorizations - Preferred.
