Accounting Specialist - Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable

Accounting Specialist | Service Metal | Maryland Heights, MO Pay: $24.00–$28.00/hour | Full-Time | Business Hours, 8am–5pm | Onsite Service Metal is hiring an Accounting Specialist to support Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, billing, and vendor payments for a growing, nationwide distribution company. This role is a strong fit for someone early in their accounting career who wants room to grow, cross-train, and take on more responsibility over time. What You’ll Do Process customer payments, reconcile accounts, and resolve payment discrepancies Prepare and process customer invoices Monitor Accounts Receivable aging and support collections Process vendor invoices and prepare payment batches (ACH, check runs, electronic payments) Reconcile vendor statements and maintain vendor records Coordinate with Sales, Operations, and Purchasing to resolve accounting issues Support audits, compliance documentation, and recordkeeping Cross-train across accounting functions as part of ongoing development What You Bring High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree a plus 2+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, AP, or AR experience preferred Comfortable in Excel and Microsoft Office; ERP/accounting software experience a plus Strong attention to detail and organization Clear communicator who can manage multiple priorities Manufacturing, industrial, or distribution experience helpful but not required Where You’ll Work You’ll be part of an accounting team in our own section of the main office bullpen at our corporate headquarters, a modern workspace built for focus and collaboration: Sit-to-stand desks and sound-masked workspace Modern breakroom and chill zone with golf and bags Huddle rooms, collab spaces, and high-tech conference and training rooms Regular company training events and team lunches Nationwide team connected daily across our locations coast to coast Located in a business park with walking trails, green space, and nearby lunch spots Room to Grow This role is built for advancement.
