Contract Specialist / Technical Assessment Coordinator

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM

Pay Rate: $30- $ 32.94/hour

Work Arrangement: Hybrid — minimum 2 days onsite per week

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Contract Specialist / Technical Assessment Coordinator to support the day-to-day operations of a Technical Assessment Group within a life sciences environment.

This position will be responsible for reviewing and triaging incoming RFPs and new-business requests, coordinating workload assignments, tracking deliverables, and maintaining accurate metrics and KPI reporting. The ideal candidate will have a scientific background and strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

As you gain knowledge of the organization's bioanalytical services and processes, you may have the opportunity to support routine technical work and established service offerings.

Key Responsibilities

• Review incoming RFPs, capability requests, and new-business opportunities to identify relevant services, technical areas, and complexity.

• Assign requests to appropriate team members based on service area, workload, capacity, and established processes.

• Monitor team workload, priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.

• Track requests, assignments, status, and deliverables using internal systems such as Proposal Hub.

• Follow up proactively on outstanding activities and identify potential delays, bottlenecks, or workload concerns.

• Maintain accurate data to support workload planning, metrics, and KPI reporting.

• Coordinate with Business Development, Laboratory Operations, Commercial Finance, and other cross-functional teams.

• Support preparation of work scopes for established routine services using approved templates and processes.

• Escalate complex, non-standard, or technically challenging requests to appropriate senior technical resources.

• Identify opportunities to improve workflow, tracking, reporting, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related life science discipline.

• Professional experience in a scientific, laboratory, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, CRO, or related life sciences environment.

• Ability to understand and interpret scientific and technical information.

• Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong attention to detail and sound judgment.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.

• Ability to quickly learn new systems and workflow tools.

Preferred:

• 2–5 years of experience in a CRO, bioanalytical laboratory, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related life sciences organization.

• Familiarity with bioanalytical testing, drug development, laboratory services, or related scientific disciplines.

• Experience with RFPs, proposals, project coordination, scientific operations, or client services.

• Experience maintaining operational trackers, dashboards, metrics, or KPIs.

Work Environment & Schedule

• Hybrid position based in Richmond, VA .

• Minimum 2 days onsite per week .

• Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM , including a 30-minute meal period.

Pay Details: $30.00 to $32.94 per hour
