Job Title: Financial Crimes Specialist

Location: Charlotte NC 28262

Duration: 4-month (Possibility of extension)

Hours: Standard M-F (training is 100% onsite (3-4 weeks of training), hybrid schedule to follow)

Pay range : $30 -$32

Job Description :

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Identifies, researches and investigates financial crimes transactions and referrals, policy violations and/or suspicious situations with low to moderate risk. Conducts investigative research using appropriate investigative techniques to determine liability and impact of cases and mitigates financial losses and/or business interruptions. Performs detailed analyses to detect transactional and relationship patterns, trends, anomalies, and schemes across multiple businesses/products.

Duties include any or all the following:

\n
• Prepares documentation and refers cases for Suspicious Activity, Identity Theft Operations (ITO) and Suspected Financial Abuse, reports to government agencies and makes recommendations to senior management.
\n
• Identifies and acts on control failures in bank processes and procedures, customer, or team member decisions.
\n
• Evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, and internal controls; conducts data and/or onsite reviews, research findings, determines risk level and may recommend resulting fraud prevention strategies.
\n
• Drafts corrective action plans and participates in change management.
\n
• Leads, participates in and/or provides support for projects and initiatives.
\n
• Provides input to development and delivery of a wide range of team member education for financial crimes awareness.
\n
• Acts as an escalation point for cases.
\n

QUALIFICATIONS:

\n
• Recent college grads with Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice/Criminology/Cybersecurity
\n
• 1-2+ years of Financial Crimes, Operational Risk, Compliance, related Law Enforcement, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery, Corruption experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, law enforcement, military experience, education
\n
• Experience writing Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR’s) is a plus
\n
• Recent experience as an Accountant, Attorney or possess Juris Doctor is a plus
\n
• Must be highly proficient using MS Excel, Word and Outlook
\n
• Willing to work in an office setting while working at a desk for extended hours
\n
• Must be technically proficient using a computer
\n
• Investigation experience strongly preferred
\n
• Ability to think critically and analyze cases
\n
• Strong writing ability
