About the Role:

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) on our Hospitalist team, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care within the hospital setting. You will be responsible for managing the care of hospitalized patients, collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans. Your expertise will contribute to improving patient outcomes by providing timely assessments, diagnosing conditions, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and initiating appropriate interventions. This role demands strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment. Ultimately, your contributions will support the hospital’s mission to provide exceptional inpatient care and enhance the overall patient experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) license in the United States.
• Certification from an accredited NP or PA program with a focus on adult or acute care.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in an acute care or hospital setting.
• Strong knowledge of hospital protocols, electronic health record systems, and clinical documentation standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working specifically within a hospitalist or inpatient care team.
• Certification in Hospital Medicine or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner specialty.
• Familiarity with quality improvement methodologies and patient safety initiatives.
• Additional certifications such as Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
• Demonstrated leadership or mentorship experience within a clinical team.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough patient assessments and obtain detailed medical histories to inform diagnosis and treatment.
• Develop, implement, and adjust individualized care plans in collaboration with the hospitalist team and other healthcare providers.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests such as laboratory work and imaging studies to monitor patient progress.
• Prescribe medications and therapies within the scope of practice and hospital protocols, ensuring patient safety and efficacy.
• Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions to promote understanding and adherence.
• Participate in daily rounds with the hospitalist team to review patient status and coordinate care.
• Document all patient interactions, assessments, and treatments accurately and timely in the electronic health record system.
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate care as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Engage in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to maintain clinical competencies and stay current with best practices.

Strong communication skills are essential for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and educating patients and families about care plans and health management. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are used daily to respond to dynamic patient conditions and make timely clinical decisions. Preferred skills such as experience in hospital medicine and quality improvement enhance your ability to contribute to system-wide initiatives that improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
