Role Description The National Title Examiner is a full-time, on-site role based in Troy, MI. This position is responsible for reviewing public records, legal documents, and reports to determine the status of property titles and identify any issues or encumbrances. Day-to-day tasks include conducting title searches, analyzing chains of title, reviewing deeds and related instruments, and preparing clear and accurate title opinions. The role also involves coordinating with escrow and closing teams, resolving title defects, and communicating findings and requirements to internal staff, underwriters, and external clients. The National Title Examiner is expected to maintain detailed documentation, adhere to regulatory and company standards, and contribute to consistent, high-quality service delivery. Qualifications Strong title examination skills, including conducting Title Searches and analyzing Chain of Title. Ability to review and interpret Deeds, legal descriptions, and related recorded documents. Experience preparing clear, accurate Title Opinions and identifying title defects and curative requirements. Familiarity with Escrow and closing processes and coordination with underwriting and settlement teams. Knowledge of real estate and title industry practices, applicable state and federal regulations, and recording requirements. High attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple files and deadlines. Proficiency with title production systems, document management tools, and standard office software. Effective written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams. Previous experience as a title examiner, abstractor, or related real estate/title role; national title experience is preferred.
