Government Procurement Partner

Michael Best & Friedrich LLP’s growing Government Procurement Practice seeks a Partner with at least 10 years of experience to join our Washington, D.C. office. A book of a minimum of $400,000 in portable business is required. This attorney will guide emerging and established businesses through every step of the government procurement process, offering both tactical and strategic advice to navigate complex statutory and regulatory challenges associated with contracting with government customers. They will manage complex operations and handle the full spectrum of issues that arise when pursuing contracts at the federal, state, and municipal levels. Responsibilities Provide guidance on Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) issues. Advise on bid protests and Requests for Equitable Adjustments. Address ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) compliance matters. Handle trade and customs issues. Review and negotiate procurement contracts, subcontracts, teaming agreements, grant proposals, and related documents. Lead and grow the practice, developing new business opportunities and fostering client relationships. Qualifications J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school. 10+ years of experience in government procurement and commercial contracting. Demonstrated ability to manage complex cases and work under tight deadlines. Valid license to practice law in the jurisdiction where the position is located. Strong business development skills and willingness to lead the practice. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Adaptability to learn new skills and best practices as the position evolves.
