With more than 12,000 team members—physicians, surgeons, nurses, pharmacists and other highly skilled health care professionals—UofL Health is focused on one mission: delivering patient-centered care to each and every patient each and every day.# **Job Description:****Position Summary and Purpose** The Accounting Manager is to coordinate, identify, recommend and perform the activities for the general accounting operations including general ledger, financial reporting, tax reporting, fixed assets, social accountability reporting, and audits as established by ULP. Assists in the organization and communication needs of the facility as it pertains to financial matters and managing multiple priorities. The position supervises and maintains a staff of accounts payable specialists. Develops, evaluates, and assures departmental goals and objectives are achieved. **Essential Functions:**• Serve as assistant to Accounting Director by ensuring that departmental procedures are properly documented and updated timely, resolving problems, identifying trends, determining system improvements and implementing changes. • Develop and establish a strong working relationship between Accounting staff and other departments within the health system. The manager provides accounting leadership in directing general accounting functions, overseeing Accounting staff, handling any disciplinary issues and performing evaluations. • Manages and performs the month-end close. Review monthly journal entries, account analysis and work papers; prepare monthly balance sheets and statement of operations, reconcile and review financial statements. • Proactively provide assistance and support with the annual budgeting process to the necessary departments. • Ensures compliance through utilization of GAAP principles and accounting laws and regulations. • Maintain financial security by establishing internal controls. Interface with external and internal auditors to provide financial information and resolve financial questions. Prepare year end audit work papers and financial statements. • Assist the IS department with upgrades or revisions to accounting software. To include testing, writing new procedures and training of accounting personnel. • Prepare necessary documents and schedules to assist external auditors in filing year-end tax returns. • Assist in meeting system objectives and ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Protect organization’s values by keeping information confidential. • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. • Performs other duties as assigned, special projects and provide assistance as needed.**Other Functions:** • Support systemwide finance initiatives, including ERP enhancements, process redesign, and reporting improvements. • Oversee preparation of fund reporting, line-item reports, and annual projections. • Maintain the integrity of accounting data across systems and ensure accurate financial integration with other platforms. • Perform special projects and analyses as requested by leadership. • Ensure ongoing adherence to HIPAA, privacy, and confidentiality standards.# **Additional Job Description:****Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Licensure and Certification)** Education: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (required) Experience: • Five to seven years of financial management experience in a healthcare setting is required.
