About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President, Federal Policy to serve as its senior federal advocacy leader. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing strategies that advance the company's federal policy interests, with a primary focus on engaging with Congress, the White House, the Department of Energy, and influential trade associations. This role involves advising top executives on federal legislative and policy developments that impact the company's mission as an independent regional transmission organization. The VP, Federal Policy will also lead federal stakeholder engagement, build and maintain relationships with policymakers, and ensure that the company's perspectives are effectively communicated. Collaboration with various internal teams is essential to align federal advocacy with strategic priorities and legal obligations. Candidates for the Vice President, Federal Policy position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with a preference for an MBA or advanced degree. A minimum of 10 years' leadership experience and 15 years' in federal government affairs or related fields is required, including executive-level leadership. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engaging with federal entities on complex energy, infrastructure, and regulatory matters, and a proven track record of promoting ethical and compliant advocacy practices. Experience in the electric utility or energy markets sector, as well as established relationships within federal policy communities, is highly valued. The role demands executive presence, sound judgment, and excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical issues into clear policy positions.
