POLICE OFFICER (LATERAL) LEHI CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT[This job listing is for Applicants with prior experience as a law enforcement officer]The Lehi City Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer, serving the city of Lehi, a dynamic and progressive community of nearly 95,000 residents. More information about the community and the Police Department can be found at the City website ( or at the Police Department Facebook page.Qualifications: Applicants must be 21 years of age or older at the time of employment and preferred to possess Utah P.O.S.T Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) certification in good standing or be certifiable prior to date of employment. Applicants must possess a valid Utah driver's license or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment. Applicants who are currently serving as Police Officers may be given preference in the testing process. Applicants should be able to demonstrate knowledge of community-oriented policing, patrol operations, criminal investigations, report writing, and safety standards related to the use of vehicles, firearms, and other police equipment. Compensation and Benefits: Starting wage for full-time officers with experience is $29.69/hour. Years of full-time law enforcement experience may be matched, up to 8 years, depending upon qualifications and certifications, at the discretion of the Chief of Police. Full insurance benefits are effective immediately. Police officers generally have opportunities for overtime. Benefits include city paid retirement (based on 2236 hours/year) in the URS system, city paid medical and dental insurance, sick-time accrual, long-term disability insurance, $100 per month uniform allowance, and 12 paid holidays per year (121 hours). Tasks require a variety of physical activities periodically involving muscular strain related to walking, standing, stooping, sitting and reaching. Essential functions require talking, hearing and seeing. Mental application utilizes memory for details, emotional stability, discriminating thinking and creative problem-solving. Frequent travel required in course of performing portions of job functions. Elements of the job pose various degrees of hazard uncertainty common to law enforcement. Police officers must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, police officers work in outside weather conditions. Police officers occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, in precarious places, with firearms ammunition and explosives and are occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, extreme cold, and vibration.
