ASSOCIATE INSURANCE COMPLIANCE OFFICER, DEPARTMENT OF INSURANCE

Associate Insurance Compliance Officer – Department of Insurance (California Department of Insurance) Salary: $6,647.00–$8,325.00 per month (new to state candidates receive minimum salary of the classification). Permanent, Full Time, Hybrid (telework and office). Final filing date: 6/26/2026. Responsibilities Assist consumers primarily via telephone, written communications, e-commerce, and in-person interviews. Independently investigate, mediate, resolve, and respond to complex consumer complaints and inquiries related to insurance coverages, rating and underwriting, and claims handling practices. Identify violations of insurance practices that require multiple contacts with the consumer, licensee, or related entities. Mediates and acts as conciliator, directing licensees or entities to resolve identified issues, complaints, or violations. Recommend and/or take enforcement action as appropriate. Serve at Local Assistance Centers (LAC) during emergencies, which may require travel by vehicle, airplane, or other means and overnight stays and extended shifts. Participate in governmental decisions that may have material effect on personal financial interests, completing required Statements of Economic Interest. Adhere to the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025, receiving a reduction in pay in exchange for monthly hours of leave credits. Minimum Qualifications Experience processing insurance claims, claim adjusting, underwriting, or insurance consumer service. Experience handling insurance related consumer calls. Knowledge of insurance practices, the insurance code, and insurance regulations. Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and verbal/written communication skills. Proficiency using standard computer software applications. Licensed as a Producer Agent and/or Broker (preferable). Benefits Medical benefits – health, dental, and vision insurance.
