Paralegal III

About the Role The Paralegal III provides litigation or transactional support under minimal supervision. This role involves researching and analyzing law, investigating facts, coordinating document collections, preparing and maintaining legal documents, and communicating with intra-company departments, external contacts, and outside counsel. The paralegal will assist attorneys in managing a high volume of fair hearing administrative law cases, maintaining case calendars, monitoring court deadlines, and tracking case progress. What You'll Do Case management of a high-volume of fair hearing administrative law cases, including managing Horizon’s hearings calendar, inputting data into the matter management system, monitoring court deadlines, and tracking case progress and status. Assist in obtaining, organizing, analyzing, and providing documents and information related to litigation, investigation, or subpoena. Negotiate resolution of matters pursuant to authorized authority. Research, monitor, update, and maintain current knowledge of developments in federal and state legislation, rules, regulations, enforcement actions, and industry guidelines affecting the health insurance industry. Organize, maintain, and update departmental files. Prepare legal documents for review, approval, and use by attorneys as requested. Analyze data and write reports as requested. Provide administrative assistance as needed, ranging from taking messages to drafting letters, scheduling meetings, typing, and projects as requested. Perform factual investigation and research. What You Bring Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred or relevant experience in lieu of degree. Experience: Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of paralegal experience. Licensing/Certifications: Paralegal certification from an ABA‑accredited program is required; applicable work experience may be considered in lieu of certification. Knowledge of a highly regulated industry and working knowledge of New Jersey litigation practice, New Jersey Rules of Civil Procedure, and Court Rules. Proficiency in Windows‑based personal computer usage and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and legal research software. Skills and Abilities Collaborates effectively within a team. Salary Range $79,100 - $105,945 (specific to the job level, based on education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity).
