Staff Accountant

Staff AccountantOur client is seeking a staff accountant to support the day-to-day accounting operations of a growing organization. Reporting to the controller, this role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, supporting month-end close, and assisting with financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and committed to continuous process improvement.Key responsibilities:Prepare and post journal entries and perform month-end balance sheet reconciliationsProcess and reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, bank transactions, and credit card activityEnsure proper revenue and expense recognition in accordance with GAAPAssist with the preparation of monthly financial statements, budgets, and financial reportsSupport year-end close activities and assist with external audits and tax preparationMaintain fixed asset records, including asset tracking, disposals, insurance, licensing, and related documentationMonitor capital expenditures and compare actual spending to budgetAssist with regulatory filings, including sales and use tax, personal property tax, franchise tax, and other business registrationsIdentify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and system efficienciesMaintain accurate financial data within the accounting system and support ongoing technology enhancementsPerform special projects and other accounting duties as assignedRequirements:Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field required3–5+ years of progressive accounting experienceMaster's degree and/or CPA designation is a plusSpanish/English bilingual communication skills are a plusStrong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end closeExperience with ERP/accounting software; Acumatica experience is a plusAdvanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft OfficeStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsSelf-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesAbility to work onsite in a collaborative team environment
