Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher working with middle school students in an engaging and collaborative setting. This position focuses on supporting 8th-grade learners in both co-taught and small group resource classes, with approximately 8-10 students in resource settings. Split between two nearby middle schools just minutes apart, your presence will make a meaningful difference in students’ educational advancement.
Schedule is set at 35 hours per week, with a dedicated 30-minute lunch daily. The contract runs from August 17, 2026, through May 28, 2027, and includes the option to join a comprehensive new teacher orientation from August 5-11 for those who are onboarded in time.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Valid LBSI (Learning Behavior Specialist I) certification or eligibility
- Background in middle school special education, particularly with co-teaching and resource room models
- Demonstrated ability to deliver individualized instruction and resource support
- Experience working independently and collaborating with general education teachers
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction to 8th-grade students in both co-taught and resource class settings
- Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and develop IEPs
- Effectively manage a rotating schedule between two middle schools
- Track, document, and communicate student progress with parents and staff
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment for all learners
- Attend professional meetings and participate in ongoing training as available
