Assistant Professor of Construction Management

Primary Duties Teach 12 credit hours per semester, employing various modes of delivery, primarily in the Construction Management program. Teaching entails full participation in all activities that support the teaching and learning process, including preparing and presenting course materials; assessing and evaluating student performance; providing academic support to students outside the classroom including holding 5 office hours per week; selecting and ordering textbooks; preparing proposals for new courses; recommending program modifications; and making necessary adjustments to the curriculum according to institutional procedures. Scholarly Activities Engage in scholarly and creative activities that result in peer-reviewable products such as project reports, external and internal grant proposals, conference papers, seminar presentations, books, and/or manuals. Scholarly work will include undergraduate and graduate students in research when possible and appropriate. Service Provide service to the department, college, institution, and community by participating in such activities as student advising, student recruiting, serving on committees and task groups that support shared governance of the program, department, college, or institution. Service activities include outreach to the community and profession. Salary Range $60,200 - $80,000 Minimum Qualifications Doctorate in construction engineering or construction management, or a closely related field such as civil engineering or architectural engineering, conferred minimally before starting the tenure‑track faculty appointment. Ability to teach in at least three of the program areas described in the job statement summary. Excellent written and oral communication in English and the ability to use computer‑related technology as an educational tool for the development and delivery of instruction. Provide official transcripts of completed academic work. Demonstrate the ability to accept employment in the United States by the start date. Preferred Qualifications Professional certification or license in Building Information Modeling, Building Code, Construction Accounting, and Finance, Heavy Civil, Mechanical & Electrical. Online teaching experience and experience in managing online course or program delivery. Minimum total of three (3) verifiable years of construction industry experience with at least one (1) year of U.S. construction industry experience. Experience in management level such as project manager, lead estimator, or site supervisor. Experience in heavy/highway construction practice. Experience in Building Information Modeling and ability to incorporate current technologies into the curriculum.
