Job Description

Our risk and consulting group, under Allied Universal® Enhanced Protection Services is hiring a Director of Operations, Special Services. The Director of Special Services supports the Threat, Disaster, and Emergency Response Division of Allied Universal® Risk Advisory and Consulting Services and is responsible for the oversight, planning, and execution of temporary and ad hoc security deployments. This position leads the Special Services Team in strike-related, emergency, disaster-response, transportation, and show-support operations. The Director is responsible for staffing, deployment logistics, travel coordination, client communication, financial performance, and field leadership for high-risk, high-visibility, and time-sensitive assignments. The Director also provides oversight and management of the Transport and Show Teams and other personnel within the Special Services Group.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead Special Services operations and oversees the planning, staffing, and execution of strike-related, emergency, disaster-response, transportation, show, event, and other high-risk or time-sensitive security deployments
• Direct and supervise Special Services, Transport, and Show Teams, ensuring personnel are properly assigned, prepared, and supported to meet client and operational requirements
• Coordinate nationwide deployment of armed, unarmed, and law enforcement personnel, including staffing, scheduling, travel, lodging, transportation, equipment, communications, and on-site leadership
• Serve as the primary operational escalation point for clients, staff, Operations Management, Off-Duty Officers, subcontractors, and other partners, resolving staffing, service, performance, and deployment issues
• Ensure client satisfaction and contract compliance by maintaining knowledge of client requirements, post orders, service expectations, and operational standards
• Establish and enforce operational processes and documentation standards for temporary and ad hoc deployments, including personnel rosters, deployment details, incident reports, time records, payroll, and billing documentation
• Provide 24/7 operational support and field leadership for urgent, complex, high-risk, and rapidly developing assignments, ensuring safe and effective service delivery
• Monitor staffing, performance, operational risk, and service quality, addressing personnel or subcontractor performance issues and implementing corrective actions and process improvements
• Maintain financial and operational accountability, including Special Services margins of at least 26%, Transport and Show Team margins of at least 23%, and payroll/billing accuracy of 98% or better; provides weekly performance reporting to Senior Management
• Evaluate deployment performance and drives continuous improvement, tracking key metrics, client satisfaction, wins and opportunities, and ensuring lessons learned are incorporated into future operations

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must possess one or more of the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, business or a related field of study
  • Associate’s degree in criminal justice, business or a related field with five (5) years of management experience in a high-volume workforce environment or service industry
  • High School diploma or equivalent with seven (7) years of management experience in a high-volume workforce environment or service industry
• Minimum of three (3) years of professional-level security management experience, including leadership of high-volume, multi-faceted teams across multiple locations, shifts, and operational environments.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex, time-sensitive operations and respond effectively to emergency and disaster-response assignments, including travel outside the employee’s normal geographic area
• Strong knowledge of emergency security operations, disaster response, and active law enforcement deployments
• Demonstrated leadership, planning, decision-making, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage complex, time-sensitive operations and competing priorities
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, employees, subcontractors, law enforcement personnel, and all levels of management
• Strong customer service, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain professional and effective in high-pressure or rapidly changing situations
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills, including the ability to manage and reconcile scheduling, payroll, billing, margins, and operational data
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Ability to travel up to 25%

PREFERRED Q UALIFICATIONS:

• Proficient in Smartsheet application
