Executive Director, Biostatistics - Medical Affairs

Gilead seeks an Executive Director of Biostatistics to lead the Medical Affairs biostatistics function across therapeutic areas. The role requires building and managing a high-performing team, providing statistical oversight of internal and external biostatisticians, and delivering strategic expertise for medical evidence-generation activities. Strong leadership, functional expertise, and resource management capabilities are essential.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Medical Affairs Biostatistics team, including structure and capability planning
- Provide statistical oversight of biostatisticians and external consultants supporting Medical Affairs portfolio
- Develop staffing plans and assign resources across competing programs and priorities
- Establish and enforce SOPs, standards, and statistical methodology for Medical Affairs studies
- Champion statistical tools development and explore innovative analytical approaches for efficiency
Requirements
- Proven functional leadership and people management experience
- Deep knowledge of drug development, GCP, and ICH regulatory guidelines
- Ability to supervise team leads and manage biostatisticians
- Expert-level statistical methodology and data analysis skills
- Strong verbal, written, and negotiation communication abilities
- Strategic judgment applying innovative and pragmatic statistical approaches
- Experience with medical affairs studies and evidence-generation activities
