Senior Scientist II – CMC Developmental Sciences Full-time Senior Scientist II – CMC Developmental Sciences, AbbVie Biotherapeutics Inc., South San Francisco, CA (100% onsite). Key Responsibilities Perform hands‑on CHO cell line development, characterization studies, cell culture process development, or protein purification to advance novel biotherapeutics into human clinical studies. Implement and interpret data from preclinical studies, including molecular markers and platforms such as flow cytometry, IHC, next generation sequencing, microarrays, and others. Train colleagues in established methodology, troubleshooting of assays, and development of novel techniques. Develop scientific presentations and reports for internal review meetings and external collaborators. Education & Experience Must have a MS in Cell & Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Bioengineering, or Chemical Engineering, and 3 years of academic or industry laboratory research experience. Qualified candidates should have experience in the following areas: Performing cell line and/or cell culture development utilizing knowledge of cell/molecular biology research, signaling, and tumor/immune cell interactions. Performing bioreactor processes, cell culture optimization, and molecular biology techniques. Working with laboratory automation. Engaging in sample preparation and data analysis for next‑generation sequencing. Developing novel assays by applying cell culture and molecular biology knowledge. Leading scientists in cell culture process optimization. Training and mentoring junior scientists and students in an academic laboratory. Alternatively, a PhD in Cell & Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Bioengineering, or Chemical Engineering, with 1 year of academic or industry laboratory research experience, will be considered. To qualify, candidates must demonstrate experience in each of the areas listed above for one year. Experience may be gained concurrently. Acceptable combinations of training, education, and work experience will be considered. Salary Range: $167,877.00 - $178,500.00 per year.
