Lecturer - African American Studies Job ID: 493005 Part-Time African-American Studies Department Department: African-American Studies Salary: Commensurate with experience Description The African American Studies Department at the University of Houston invites applicants to apply for part-time lecturer positions. African American Studies is a distinct academic discipline that engages Africa and the diaspora through research and teaching. This is a non-tenure track position and lecturer appointments are made on a semester-to-semester basis. Successful candidates must have experience teaching college-level courses and be prepared to teach online and/or in-person. Preferred applicants will have a Ph.D. in African American Studies. We are especially interested in those who can teach our already existing courses. Therefore, candidates with specialties in theater, religious studies, gender and sexuality studies, class and race, race and health are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates with a Master's degree or with substantial years of professional work experience will also be considered. Administrative Requirements Official transcripts are required for a faculty appointment and will be requested upon selection of the final candidates. All positions at the University of Houston-System are security sensitive and will require a criminal history check.
