Work Environment

As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will work onsite at our state-of-the-art hospital facility in San Jose. Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities as a Physical Therapist Assistant will include:

• Administering direct patient care by implementing treatment plans as designed by physical therapists, including therapeutic exercises, modalities, and other interventions to alleviate pain and foster recovery.
• Assisting patients with active and passive therapeutic exercises, guiding them through muscle reeducation, gait training, and functional activities.
• Utilizing physical modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation in conjunction with therapeutic exercises to enhance patient outcomes.
• Monitoring patient responses to treatment, reporting any significant changes in condition or reaction to the supervising physical therapist timely.
• Instructing patients and caregivers in the proper use and care of assistive devices, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
• Maintaining accurate patient records and documentation, integrating your notes into patient clinical records within required timelines.
• Participating in interdisciplinary team meetings, organizational in-service training, and performance improvement initiatives.
• Performing administrative and other duties as assigned by the supervising therapist or management.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily work with a diverse patient population, including individuals recovering from surgeries, those with sports injuries, and patients with chronic pain conditions. Your role is vital in providing restorative and rehabilitative therapies aimed at improving their mobility, functionality, and overall quality of life. The focus on evidence-based practice will allow you to adapt treatments to meet each patient's unique needs and goals.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program, holding either an Associate's degree in science or applied science recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association.
• Possession of a current state-specific license or certification to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
• Current CPR certification, ensuring readiness for emergency situations.
• Valid driver's license with an insured vehicle in compliance with state regulations, required for any travel related to patient care.

Preferred Experience

A minimum of two years of relevant experience is required. Experience in a hospital setting or with a diverse patient demographic will be considered a significant advantage. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and clinical documentation practices will also enhance your candidacy.

Compensation and Benefits
