Location: Stanford Health Care – Tri‑Valley, United States of America Shift: Rotating – 08 Hour Overview The Surgery Materials Coordinator orders and maintains inventories of consumable supplies within the Department of Surgical Services. The role coordinates consignment instruments and supplies for specialty cases, reviews operating room inventory and custom packs to monitor usage, identifies cost‑saving opportunities, and facilitates equipment repair in collaboration with Purchasing. All duties must be performed within the hospital’s budgetary and space requirements. Key Responsibilities Monitor stock levels, adjust par levels and items, and update preference cards as needed. Review future schedules for potential conflicts and procure necessary supplies/equipment. Process repair requests and troubleshoot equipment issues when appropriate. Confirm and order special implants or requested items. Review and complete “Hand Charge” forms with accurate information. Maintain labeling, organization, and accurate recordkeeping of supplies. Communicate changes to the charge master, staff, and vendors as directed. Attend department meetings and participate in hospital‑wide committees. Relationship building: Consistently interact with physicians, peers, departmental personnel, volunteers, and external service providers in a courteous and professional manner. Education & Qualifications High School Diploma or GED preferred. 2–3 years of operating room experience as a surgical technician preferred; required for all positions. Basic knowledge of medical terminology. Familiarity with materials management systems. Working knowledge of computer skills preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to read, write, and understand the English language. Strong organization and follow‑up skills. Strong attention to detail. Licenses & Certifications Current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers required. Base Pay Scale Generally starting at $38.12 – $49.45 per hour. Final compensation is determined based on internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
