About Us:

Zilka & Company is a fourth-generation, family-owned bakery supply business that’s been serving customers since 1923. 

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Staff Accountant to support our financial operations and contribute to our continued growth.

Position Overview:

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day accounting transactions, and supporting the leadership team with financial reporting and administrative tasks. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities:

• Record and reconcile daily financial transactions.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Process invoices, payments, and deposits.
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements.
• Maintain accurate general ledger records.
• Prepare monthly financial reports and summaries.
• Coordinate with external accountants and tax professionals.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of accounting experience.
• Proficiency with ERP Systems.
• Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles.
• Experience with bank reconciliations.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to handle confidential information professionally.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Experience working with small businesses or professional service firms.
• Knowledge of sales tax reporting and basic financial analysis.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains) a plus.
