Work Environment This role provides the flexibility of remote work, with regular office interactions in our outpatient facility. Typically, you will engage with clients virtually while having the support of a collaborative and resourceful healthcare team. The work schedule runs Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. You will be equipped with the latest telehealth tools and resources, enabling you to provide continuous support and therapeutic interventions to your clients effectively. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly residents, identifying their specific emotional and psychological needs. Provide individual and group counseling sessions aimed at addressing emotional difficulties associated with aging, such as grief, loss, and life transitions. Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to formulate and implement tailored care plans for each resident. Educate families and staff on effective strategies to improve the emotional well-being and quality of life for older adults. Facilitate grief and loss counseling sessions for residents and their families, guiding them through end-of-life issues with compassion. Implement cognitive stimulation and mental health interventions designed to promote mental acuity and emotional stability in elderly individuals. Patient Population / Client Focus Your primary focus will be on seniors who are experiencing various psychological challenges, including those related to aging, loss of loved ones, and significant life changes. Our clients often face issues such as anxiety, depression, and substance abuse, necessitating a specialized approach that incorporates both mental health and geriatric expertise. You will leverage your clinical skills and cultural awareness to provide empathetic and effective support for a diverse population of elderly clients. Qualifications Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution. Current and valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential. A minimum of 4 years of post-licensure experience in geriatric counseling, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of mental health issues affecting the elderly. Training or specialization in geriatric mental health and aging-related issues is preferred. Proven ability to deliver mental health services to elderly individuals facing a range of challenges, utilizing evidence-based interventions. Excellent communication skills to foster trust and rapport with elderly clients, along with strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Empathy and culturally sensitive approaches to support older adults from diverse backgrounds. Ability to perform thorough assessments and develop tailored treatment methodologies based on individual client needs. Knowledge of ethical and legal standards in geriatric mental health practice. Preferred Experience Experience in addiction counseling and its correlation with elderly mental health issues. Additional certifications or special training in therapeutic modalities relevant to geriatric care. Compensation and Benefits This position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $65,000 to $95,000, commensurate with experience, alongside a sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.
