Vertex Spring Co-Op 2027, Process and Media Development
$35 - $50 per hourVertex Pharmaceuticals
Six-month co-op in process and media development for stem cell therapy at Vertex Pharmaceuticals in Boston. Ideal for advanced degree students in biomedical, chemical, or bioprocess engineering seeking hands-on experience in cell culture optimization, media formulation, and bioreactor operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform lab-based work minimum 25-30 hours weekly under scientist supervision
- Execute experiments on cell culture optimization and media development at various scales
- Contribute to omics analyses and bioreactor design and operation projects
- Collaborate with media development team on daily lab activities and broader process development initiatives
- Present project contributions and findings at end of co-op period
Requirements
- PhD student in biomedical, chemical, or bioprocess engineering; or master's student in related field
- Demonstrated aseptic technique and cell culture experience required
- Familiarity with bioreactor operations and maintenance
- Knowledge of GMP compliance, raw material sourcing, and market analysis
- Legal authorization to work in United States without sponsorship
- Full-time availability 40 hours/week January–July 2027
- Currently enrolled in advanced degree program if graduating before May 2027
Compensation: $35.00–$50.00 USD/hour
