Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough initial evaluations and ongoing assessments to document each client's mental, emotional, and behavioral health status throughout the treatment process.

• Develop personalized treatment and intervention plans that address the specific needs of individuals, couples, families, and groups based on best practices in mental health care.

• Facilitate engaging individual and group therapy sessions, focusing on building a trusting therapeutic relationship that promotes open communication.

• Monitor and document client progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure effective outcomes and continuous improvement.

• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers, to coordinate care and optimize client outcomes.

• Perform necessary follow-ups with healthcare providers for clients needing additional support, including those recently admitted to inpatient services.

• Identify potential risks and behaviors that impede recovery, implementing strategies to mitigate these challenges.

• Support family members and caregivers in understanding mental health challenges and developing coping strategies.

Qualifications\n

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of New Jersey.

• Successful completion of the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Exam (NCMHCE).
\n
• Strong foundational training in therapeutic approaches, ethics, and client-centered practices.

Preferred Experience\n

• Prior experience as a mental health counselor working in a telehealth environment is highly desirable.

• Proficiency in using electronic health record systems, particularly AVATAR, to track client progress and manage documentation.

• Experience working with clients facing a wide array of psychological and emotional issues, along with any co-occurring conditions.

• Familiarity with best practices established by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).

• In-depth understanding of medication management and its impact on mental health treatment.
