Accounts Payable Specialist

Accounts Payable Specialist Location: La Verne, CA | Compensation: $25 - $35 per hour | On-site | Contract-Hire basis. Job Summary We are a thriving construction company looking to expand our team with a highly skilled Accounts Payable Specialist. This role will manage all aspects of accounts payable, ensuring accurate, timely payments and supporting the financial health of the company. Benefits Great work culture Promotion opportunities Excellent benefits Responsibilities Manage full-cycle accounts payable processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to company policies. Process vendor invoices, matching them with purchase orders and receipts, and resolving any discrepancies. Perform monthly reconciliations of vendor statements, identifying and resolving discrepancies. Maintain accurate and up-to-date vendor files and records. Work collaboratively with purchasing and receiving departments to resolve invoice discrepancies and ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices. Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments. Assist in month-end closing procedures, including preparation of monthly accounts payable reports. Contribute to development and implementation of new systems and procedures to enhance efficiency of the accounts payable function. Liaise with vendors and respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner. Assist with internal and external audits as required. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Minimum 3 years of experience in an Accounts Payable role, preferably within the Engineering industry. Proficiency in vendor management and invoice processing. Strong understanding of general ledger systems and procedures. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to liaise effectively with vendors and internal stakeholders. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Experience with accounting software, preferably QuickBooks.
