Step into a rewarding opportunity as a physical therapist supporting students in an Extended School Year program near Cambridge, MA. This contract role offers a dynamic schedule, working approximately 2.5 days per week within a close-knit school community. With flexible start dates between July 6 and August 13, this position is designed to fit your availability while making a real difference in the lives of students ages 3-22.
You’ll deliver physical therapy services both on-site and through home visits, including 5 hours of specialized care for a medically complex student. The program operates Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, providing a focused environment for individualized therapy and collaboration with educators and families.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), with school-based experience preferred
- Comfortable working with children and young adults ages 3-22, including those with diverse and complex needs
- Experience developing and implementing IEP-driven therapy plans in a school or pediatric setting
- Ability to coordinate and deliver home-based PT services for medically complex students
- Strong communication skills for partnering with multidisciplinary teams and families
- Adaptability to fit within a flexible schedule and evolving school program needs
Role Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ functional abilities and develop individualized physical therapy plans
- Deliver direct and consultative physical therapy services in both school and home environments
- Document therapy sessions and progress according to school and program standards
- Communicate therapy goals and updates with educators and families
- Adjust therapy plans as needed to best support student success during the summer session
