Winters are mild, the Hill Country and Austin are an hour away, and the Gulf Coast is a short drive.San Antonio International Airport (SAT) — roughly 10 minutes from the medical campus, with nonstop service to most major U.S. hubs. Austin–Bergstrom (AUS) is a second option about 90 minutes north. This is one of the easiest travel assignments in the country for a physician commuting in for a scheduled week.A tertiary care, academic-affiliated federal medical center inside the South Texas Medical Center campus, with a full interventional suite and an established IR service staffed by physicians, technologists and nurses. Equipment on site includes ultrasound, CT and fluoroscopy.
