Business Development Representative (Higher Education - Public Sector)

Where And How You Can Work Our flagship office is in Sydney, Australia, and we also have a campus in Austin, Texas, which hosts our U.S. operations. The office hours are Tuesday‑Thursday. Monday and Friday are available for remote work or office attendance. What You’d Be Doing In This Role As Canva scales, change is part of our DNA. In this role you will maintain a dynamic focus, but the core responsibilities are defined below. Collaborate closely with Sales teams to identify and pursue strategic opportunities within Higher Education institutions (universities, colleges, and academic systems). Build pipeline through outbound strategies such as cold calling, emailing, and social selling – connecting with stakeholders like faculty, marketing teams, and campus leadership. Learn how universities operate – including student engagement, digital transformation, and accessibility – and align Canva’s solutions to those needs. Develop in‑depth knowledge of Canva’s platform and its impact on students, educators, and staff. Work cross‑functionally with marketing, product, and customer success teams to support campaigns and initiatives for the public sector. Apply sales strategies to present Canva’s solutions for real‑world campus use cases such as presentations, coursework, branding, and internal communications. Utilize tools like Salesforce, Pocus, Outreach, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo, and Gong to build and manage pipeline. Deliver on weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance goals while continuously learning and improving. You have a strong interest in education, technology, or helping organizations work more creatively and efficiently. You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and are comfortable building relationships. You are organized, have strong time‑management skills, and pay attention to detail. You are goal‑oriented and motivated by hitting targets, learning quickly, and advancing your career. Experience with cold outreach, internships, campus leadership, or customer‑facing roles is a plus. Familiarity with tools such as Salesforce or outreach platforms is helpful but not required – we’ll teach you. About The Role As a Business Development Representative focused on Higher Education, you’ll help universities unlock creativity across their campuses. You’ll introduce Canva to educators, students, and administrators, showing how it simplifies workflows, enhances learning, and fosters collaboration. This launchpad role builds foundational sales skills, full‑customer lifecycle exposure, and experience in Canva’s fastest‑growing segment. You’ll partner closely with Account Executives and Customer Success Managers to grow adoption across institutions and make a real impact in education. What’s in it for you?
