SOUS CHEF (FULL TIME)

Position: SOUS CHEF We are hiring immediately for a full-time position. Location: Avon Old Farms School, 500 Old Farms Road, Avon, CT 06001. Online applications accepted only. Schedule: Full time, Sunday through Thursday, 11:00 am to 7:30 pm. Requirement: Previous leadership experience, culinary and ServSafe certificate required. Pay Range: $24.00 per hour to $26.00 per hour. Free meals, uniforms and laundering service available at select locations. Job Summary Helps Executive Chef prepare and cook foods. Coordinates activities of cooks and other food‑service associates. Assumes responsibility for kitchen and food‑service associates in the absence of Executive Chef. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards to meet deadlines. Supervises hourly food‑service associates – interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, reviews, and disciplinary recommendations. Stores food per corporate, state, and federal food safety procedures. Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures. Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils; cleans workstation before leaving area; keeps display equipment clean and debris‑free during service. Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service‑oriented manner and relays information to supervisor. Demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and explains them to associates and customers. Stays up with peak production and service hours. Monitors inventory and deliveries of products and supplies, tracks production, consumption, and waste, and informs supervisor when items are low. Performs other duties as assigned.
