Job Summary: Provide essential clinical support in the operating room by assisting anesthesia providers, surgeons, and team members with procedural tasks. Ensure all instruments and equipment are processed according to industry standards such as AMMI, AORN, and AST. Responsibilities include cleaning, decontaminating, and sterilizing surgical tools while prioritizing tasks as directed by leadership. Adapt to fluctuating department activity levels and use supplies judiciously.

Quality Assurance: Collaborate with nursing staff to obtain specialized supplies promptly, ensuring uninterrupted patient care. Respond effectively to unexpected changes during procedures and assist in revising preference cards and instrument sets to incorporate technological advancements. Promote teamwork by accepting and delegating tasks appropriately.

Patient Satisfaction: Work closely with the surgical team to prepare instrument and supply setups before cases. Maintain a professional, quiet environment and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with patients, visitors, physicians, and colleagues. Support efficient patient flow by adapting to daily schedule changes.

Patient Safety: Perform thorough cleaning and sterilization of all surgical instruments and equipment. Prepare for surgical interventions tailored to individual patient needs and respond to ongoing changes during procedures. Adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations and maintain sterile field integrity by following established protocols.

Professional Development: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of anatomy and surgical instruments. Share expertise through orientation and cross-training of peers and new staff. Engage in continuous learning and participate in departmental goal setting and in-service training.

Customer Service: Build strong relationships with physicians, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals. Foster a respectful and collaborative team environment, practicing AIDET communication principles. Demonstrate flexibility with assignments and shifts to meet departmental needs.

Education and Certification: Must hold current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or be a licensed practical nurse (LPN) or registered nurse (RN) with appropriate state licensure.

Work Environment: Full-time day shift position in a regional healthcare facility serving the Midwest region of the United States.
