AML Oversight Senior Analyst

\n As a member of the FAS AML Oversight team, you will play a key role in protecting Vanguard from financial crime risk across the FAS client base. Working within a dynamic and evolving regulatory environment, you will oversee and challenge the effectiveness of complex AML and financial crime first line controls, ensuring they are appropriately designed, implemented and operating as intended. Serving as a subject matter expert, you will partner closely with internal stakeholders and third-party service providers to support compliance with regulatory obligations and industry best practices. You will contribute to the ongoing enhancement of Vanguard's financial crime risk management framework, helping to strengthen governance, oversight and internal controls. The role also supports the monitoring and investigation of suspicious activity, providing oversight of transaction monitoring, KYC and sanctions screening processes, and ensuring adherence to evolving financial crime regulations. Through effective oversight, analysis and stakeholder engagement, you will help safeguard Vanguard, its clients and the integrity of the wider financial system.\n

Details:

Duties and responsibilities  

\n
• Be a senior AML analyst working with internal teams and the external parties, to ensure that operational processes are being completed (accurate/timely). 
\n
• A trusted referral point for external vendors for anything AML/KYC related (TAs/vendors) as well as complete internal AML checks for certain relationships.
\n
• Review and respond to workflow items and emails to provide Vanguard and external 3rd party vendors with guidance about any AML/KYC issues or questions, including; Screening alerts (sanctions and adverse media), suspicious activities, document requirements and acceptability, PEP & RCAs, SoW and High-Risk clients, AML related complaint referrals.

• Review hits via Transaction Monitoring reports/systems to help identify any suspicious activity.
\n
• Review Distribution Agreements and Rebate Agreements from an AML perspective.
\n
• Perform regular admin tasks – such as updating and reconciling trackers, completing checklists, reviewing reports etc.
\n
• Assist with the collation of MI related metrics and reporting for various internal teams and analyse the data to spot any trends/errors and address root cause of AML related  complaints.
\n
• Create and update procedures (based on AFC policies and standards).
\n
• Liaise with external parties/vendors to ensure that adequate systems and controls are in place in relation to AML compliance for Vanguard’s investors.
\n
• Help identify internal or external control and process weaknesses and support any improvements.
\n
• Participate in (and lead) different types of meetings (internal and external) including annual due diligence visits and monthly service reviews with Transfer Agents.
\n
• Assist the team and business to help strengthen the business’ knowledge and understanding of AML/KYC (basic AML training to new starters)
\n
• Participate in projects or other initiatives as required to enhance controls, increase operational efficiencies and reduce AML related risk.

What it takes  

\n
• Strong knowledge and understanding of UK and Irish AML Regulations (3-5 years’ + experience in an AML role ideally within Asset/Wealth Management/Transfer Agent)
\n
• Experience working at a Transfer Agent and/or overseeing a Transfer Agent in an AML capacity is preferential.
\n
• Strong understanding of institutional and corporate investor client bases, including complex entity structures such as trusts, charities, pension schemes and other regulated investor types.
\n
• Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently, take ownership and adapt to changing business priorities.
\n
• Transaction monitoring experience preferred.
\n
• Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management.
\n
• Able to manage small projects and participate/lead calls.
\n
• Strong organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage competing demands and navigate ambiguity effectively.
\n
• Proficiency in Microsoft Power Platform tools, SharePoint, Power BI, SQL, or similar data and reporting solutions would be advantageous.
