Job Description 1st shift OBJECTIVE :
Performs various operations such as drilling, riveting, dimpling, countersinking, sanding and shaving rivets to build up and/or complete small parts and sheet metal assemblies using normal sheet metal tools and skills. SPECIAL WORK CONDITIONS AND AMERICANS WITH DISABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
• Prolonged periods of standing, stooping, crouching, bending and stretching
• Lifting up to 50 lb. without assistance and over 50 lb. with assistance
• Constant exposure to general shop conditions, including machine noise and metal dust
• Constant repetitive use of hands, wrists and arms
Level I:
Major Activities Performed and Machines/Tools Used by All Job Levels
• Rivet squeezes (hand and floor)
• Rivet shavers
• Screw guns and rivet guns
• Drill motors and belt sanders
Typical Job Requirements
• Elementary blueprint reading capabilities
• Assemble, with close to moderate supervision, the operations required to produce a quality assembly
• Working knowledge of blueprints, mylars, Engineering Orders (E.O.), Statistical Process Controls (SPCs) and Drawing Change Notices (DCNs)
• Check work using prescribed gauges or certified parts
• Perform preventive maintenance on machine tools
• Follow instructions from planning, setup sheets, shop charts and verbal instructions
• Maintain good housekeeping practices
• Wear and use proper safety equipment
• Familiarity of requirements regarding hazardous waste disposal
• Knowledge of company policies and procedures Education & Experience
• High School or equivalent
• Mechanical aptitude and good work ethic desired
• Requires one year of sheet metal fabrication or assembly experience Level II:
Major Activities Performed and Machines/Tools Used by Job Level
• See Level I
Typical Job Requirements
• Perform all requirements of Level I with moderate to minimal supervision
• Demonstrate good communication, and self-management skills
• Adherence to Company policies and procedures
• Performs fay sealing operations in conjunction with assembly using certified sealing techniques
• Uses proper methods to store perishable foam components, sealant and other related materials
• Locate and assemble major assemblies in the mating jigs requiring the use of judgment in aligning,
positioning and adjusting the assemblies
• Advanced blueprint capabilities
• Capable of setting up and assembling a minimum of two assemblies with moderate to minimal
supervision
• Knowledge of shop math
• Knowledge of proper identification and disposal of hazardous materials Education & Experience
• High School or equivalent
• Typically, two years' experience
• Specialized training in blueprint and communication skill (both verbal and written)
• Demonstrated ability to perform all Level I tasks as well as knowledge of Level II tasks with exposure to
the same
• Ability to read precision tools, scales, protractor, micrometer, calipers, etc.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and specifications Level III:

• Perform all requirements of Level II with minimal supervision
• Be able to demonstrate full capability of "Typical Job Requirements" by performing "on the job" activities
and possible testing
• Capable of training Level I operator into Level II tasks
• Demonstrate self-management skills, and timely, effective communication skills
• Capability to assemble a multiple of different assemblies using tools, engineering, customer specifications
with minimal supervision
• Capability to locate and layout detail components and fastener patterns
• Typically, a minimum of three years assembly experience
Requirements to move into the top 33% of the level III pay scale
• Demonstrate basic leadperson (leadership) skills, i.e. Fill in as leadperson for a couple of days in
supervisor's absence
• Display the ability to perform multifunctional operations, i.e. be cross-trained (qualified) for at least one
other job description, as a level I, level II, or level III Education & Experience
• High School or equivalent
• Same as Level II with addition of satisfactory completion of advanced Statistical Process Control (SPC)
training, courses or seminars in supervisory, communication and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI)
training and demonstrated skills in shop math
• Ability to run NWI's manufacturing software
