As a Patrol Unarmed Officer at a cultural institution, you will monitor and patrol galleries, public areas, and surrounding spaces to help support a welcoming environment. This role includes visible patrols, responding to security‑related concerns, and delivering strong customer service and communication to visitors and staff. Position Type & Pay Rate Part Time – $21.00 per hour Job Schedule Saturday: 12:30 PM – 07:00 PM Sunday: 12:30 PM – 07:00 PM What You’ll Do Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and/or vendors by carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities within a cultural institution location. Respond to incidents, visitor concerns, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, documenting observations and reporting security‑related matters according to site protocols. Conduct regular and random patrols throughout galleries, public areas, entrances, exits, and the exterior perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity and note unusual conditions. Monitor access points, help manage visitor flow during exhibitions and events, and support posted rules for public spaces, restricted areas, and after‑hours activity. Assist with security‑related checks of doors, gates, lighting, and exhibit surroundings, and communicate with site contacts and/or first responders when conditions call for additional support. Minimum Requirements At least 6 months of security‑related experience. Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred. A state, county, or city issued license for security‑related work is preferred. Customer service experience is preferred. Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles. Possess a high school diploma or equivalent. As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
