Special Education Para Professional in New Castle, DE

Job Description

Make a meaningful impact supporting students in a vibrant educational environment as a Paraprofessional. This onsite contract opportunity runs through early June 2027, providing critical assistance for an elementary school medical leave. Work closely with teachers and staff to nurture student growth and deliver personalized support, while gaining valuable experience in a rewarding school setting.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

DE Paraeducator Permit required and must be in hand; candidates with pending permits can apply but must furnish a screenshot of the DEEDS portal.
Experience supporting student learning in classroom or special needs environments is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and administrators.
Preference for male paraprofessional due to specific caseload needs.
Candidates must be willing to pay for required $85 CBC fingerprinting.
Excellent communication skills, patience, and enthusiasm for working with children.
If an RBT, please note supervision must be arranged independently outside of school hours, and RBT title or pay will not be recognized.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-on-one support and classroom assistance to assigned student(s), ensuring their participation and safety throughout the school day.
Implement teacher-directed activities and reinforce behavior and learning goals.
Help create an inclusive and encouraging classroom atmosphere.
Monitor progress and communicate observations to teachers and support staff.
Assist students with daily care needs as required.

You’ll be an essential part of a team committed to student achievement, all while working on a set Monday–Friday schedule with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
