Job Overview


Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Billing Specialist for a 6-month engagement in Newark, NJ. This part-time role (up to 30 hours/week, 9am-3pm) supports legal billing operations, including invoice review, compliance monitoring, and coordination with outside counsel and vendors. Business casual dress code applies.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, review, route, and process invoices from outside counsel, experts, consultants, and litigation vendors
• Identify and document duplicate charges, billing errors, unauthorized rates, and other exceptions
• Coordinate invoice approval with responsible attorneys
• Communicate with outside counsel and vendors regarding invoice status, corrections, and billing matters
• Monitor outside-counsel expenditures, accruals, and budget utilization by matter and firm
• Prepare legal-spend reports and budget-to-actual comparisons
• Reconcile billing records and resolve payment issues across departments
• Maintain complete documentation for audit, compliance, and management purposes
• Identify recurring billing issues and opportunities to improve efficiency and cost management
• Protect confidential and privileged information in the performance of duties

Required Skills

• Accounting (degree preferred)
• Oracle EBS (E-Business Suite)
• LexisNexis CounselLink
• Microsoft Excel and MS Office
• Strong organizational and troubleshooting skills

Preferred Skills

• Experience with legal billing or law firm invoice management
• Familiarity with outside counsel billing guidelines
• Financial reporting and budget monitoring experience

Onsite - 2 Gateway, Newark, NJ 07102. Business casual dress code. No remote option.

Engagement Details


Duration: 6 months | Part Time: up to 30 hours/week | Hours: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM (30-minute unpaid lunch)
