Accounts Payable Specialist

A/P Specialist
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized A/P Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing accounts payable and collections, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and alignment with best practices. This role is essential in supporting vendor partnerships and requires experience in maintaining an efficient and effective process.
Responsibilities:
- Enter invoices into Parish Data System (PDS) General Ledger application o Match purchase orders and packing slips to invoices for validation o Process non-invoice requests for check ensuring general ledger account numbers are correct o Validate credit card statements by matching receipts and ensure general ledger account numbers are correctly assigned
- Enter non-invoice and electronic payment disbursements and properly clear for bank reconciliation including monthly priest stipends
- Generate checks to be signed by pastor or parish trustee(s) using best practices
- Verify all vendor statements to confirm account status
- Maintain both paper and electronic vendor files
- Prepare calendar year end W-9 mailings and file IRS 1099 NEC and 1099 MISC under the supervision of the Parish Business manager
Skills:
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks and completely on a timely basis
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word)
- Ability to apply best business practices to business office operations
- Highly organized
- Willingness to explore learning to enhance effectiveness in maintaining financial information
- Knowledge of the Catholic Faith
- Must be a person of honesty and integrity
Qualifications:
- Prior Accounts Payable experience
- Knowledge of PDS (Parish Data Systems) is a plus – training is provided
- Knowledge of Quickbooks is a plus – training is provided
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business is a plus
Pay: $19-$23 per hour or commensurate with experience, 18 – 20 hours per week
