Description: This position involves caring for patients with various solid tumor cancers throughout their cancer journey. The focus will be on new diagnoses, treatment, and assisting with end-of-life care. Staffing ratios aim for a 1:4 ratio but may increase to 1:5. Weekend shifts are variable based on unit needs. Floating to other medical-surgical oncology units is required. Telemetry interpretation and monitoring are essential skills for this role. A heavy emphasis is placed on infection prevention protocols and patient safety to prevent falls. Candidates should have experience with accessing/managing ports, administering chemotherapy, and blood product administration. The unit serves adult and geriatric patient populations. The common diagnoses include various types of cancer, such as breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers. The environment provides interdisciplinary support from physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy. Current employees at the facility are ineligible for this position. References from professional supervisors and managers are required for the application process. Education must come from an accredited nursing program. The position adheres to strict compliance and credentialing deadlines.
