Part-Time Speech-Language Pathologist
Lake Forest School District 67 is seeking a part-time speech-language pathologist for the 2026-2027 school year for 1.5 to 2 days a week to provide services and complete evaluations for our students with disabilities attending our private schools. The speech-language pathologist (SLP) provides prevention, identification, evaluation, and intervention for children who exhibit speech and language disorders. These disorders include articulation, phonology, fluency, voice, hearing accommodations, receptive and expressive language, social communication, and augmentative/alternative communication.

Essential Functions:
- Planning and Preparation
- Assess students' speech, language, and communication needs using formal and informal evaluations
- Develop IEPs with clear, evidence-based goals per state and federal regulations; attend IEP/Evaluation meetings
- Determine eligibility for Special Education Services under Speech/Language Impairment or related disabilities; serve as IEP or 504 case manager for students with primary Speech/Language eligibility
- Select and integrate assistive technology (AAC devices, speech-to-text tools, communication boards) to support student communication
- Stay current on research-based strategies, technology, and best practices in speech-language pathology and literacy
- Collaborate with teachers, special educators, community practitioners, and families to align therapy goals with curriculum and instruction
- Leaning Environment and Management
- Establish a safe, inclusive, and respectful therapy environment that fosters student engagement and success
- Adapt instructional spaces to support students using assistive communication devices
- Implement behavior management strategies that enhance communication and social interaction
- Educate staff and peers on fostering a communication-friendly environment
- Maintain clear procedures for referrals, ensuring effective communication with teachers, special educators, community practitioners, and families
- Service Delivery
- Provide individualized and group therapy using evidence-based techniques to improve speech, language, and social communication
- Implement and monitor assistive technology, offering training and support to students, teachers, and families
- Collaborate with teachers to embed communication strategies into classroom instruction
- Support students in developing self-advocacy and communication skills for academic and social success
- Assess student progress through evaluations and observations; write clear, accurate, and audience-appropriate reports for IEPs, progress updates, and documentation
- Adjust therapy approaches based on student progress, data analysis, and team collaboration
- Professionalism
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation, including therapy notes, progress reports, and IEP compliance records
- Engage in self-evaluation and professional goal-setting, demonstrating innovation, risk-taking, and collaboration
- Participate in ongoing professional development related to speech-language therapy, special education laws, and assistive technology; contribute to the professional community
- Communicate effectively with families to support student progress and provide home resources; foster positive relationships with parents and community service providers
- Uphold ethical and legal standards, maintain confidentiality, and comply with board/administration policies and regulations
Qualifications:
- Education, Experience, and Licensure (required and preferred)
- A Master's Degree with an SLP endorsement
- Illinois PEL Teaching or Non-Teaching State Licensure is preferred
- Certificate of Clinical Competency desirable

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be mobile and transport instructional materials from one setting to another within the building.
