About the Position

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Schedule: 36-hour orientation; weekend coverage required; floating to units of similar acuity as needed

Highlights:

• 40-bed inpatient postpartum unit providing family-centered care to mothers and newborns
• Daily census of approximately 60 patients with couplet care model
• EPIC charting system; telemetry interpretation required (EKG exam must be passed prior to start)
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, pharmacy, physical therapy, rapid response teams, and social services
• Patient population includes vaginal and cesarean deliveries, healthy newborns, NAS infants, and postpartum readmissions
• Up to two pre-approved time-off periods available

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of postpartum nursing experience required
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• IV start skills and labor & delivery (L&D) experience required
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Valid compact or Ohio state RN license in hand at time of application
• Nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)
• Two professional references required: at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership role
• Must be available to complete Ohio fingerprinting process immediately upon contract signing

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous travel nursing experience

Key Clinical Skills:

• Couplet care and newborn assessment
• Postpartum hemorrhage management and fundal/lochia/perineal care
• Administration of blood products, magnesium sulfate therapy, and Pitocin
• Care of cesarean and vaginal delivery patients
• Management of pregnancy-induced hypertension and antihypertensive medications
• Neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) care and phototherapy
• Breastfeeding instruction and use of electric/manual breast pumps
• Discharge teaching, circumcision care, and cord care education
• Newborn hypoglycemia management and thermoregulation
• IV antibiotics, heparin, insulin drips, and opioid administration
• Starting and maintaining IVs, bladder assessment, and Foley catheter insertion
