About the Role
The Company is seeking an Associate Vice President, Senior Legal Counsel to join its legal and compliance team. This role is pivotal in the management of the organization's legal and compliance affairs, with a focus on contract drafting and negotiation, compliance oversight, and the development of the enterprise risk management infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for advising on a wide range of legal issues, including nonprofit operations, compliance, contracting, intellectual property, governance, and litigation matters. Additionally, the role involves ensuring organizational compliance with laws and regulations, advising on risk management strategies, and collaborating with senior leadership to identify and mitigate risks. Applicants must have a J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited U.S. law school, be admitted to practice law in New York State, and have a minimum of 8 years' legal experience, with a preference for those with a background in nonprofit and government grants management. The ideal candidate will have a mix of corporate, nonprofit, and government experience, a strong knowledge of nonprofit laws and compliance requirements, and significant experience in contract drafting and negotiation. Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to provide sound legal advice and exercise business judgment. The role requires a strategic mindset, exceptional initiative, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
