Responsibilities: Assess and diagnose : Use interviews, observation, and psychological tests to evaluate a client's needs. Build rapport : Establish trusting relationships with clients. Encourage communication : Help clients talk about their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. Develop coping strategies : Help clients find ways to deal with their issues. Plan and carry out therapy : Identify appropriate techniques and lead sessions to help clients make changes. Create and maintain records : Keep accurate, confidential records of client sessions and progress. Consult with other professionals : Work with psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, and teachers to develop treatment plans. Stay current : Keep up with research and theory, and network with other professionals. Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication and listening skills, ability to build rapport quickly, detail-oriented, and ability to manage time and prioritize tasks.
