Job Title

Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown (Float)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 4x12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Float across PCU and Medical-Surgical units as staffing needs are re-evaluated; candidates must be comfortable working all PCU and MS units, with potential to float up to every 4 hours per shift
• Provide stepdown-level nursing care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and titrating cardiac drips
• Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration; manage PCA and heparin protocols and administer IV insulin
• Deliver airway support including nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, trach management, and chest tube care (Emerson/PleurEvac)
• Respond to emergencies as part of Rapid Response and Code teams
• Document accurately using EPIC electronic health records system

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia State RN license or active Compact RN license (pending license considered only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Proficiency with EPIC charting system
• Demonstrated experience in telemetry and stepdown-level care (PCU/DOU/IMC)
• Skilled in central line care, chest tube management, and non-invasive airway support
• Must be available to work one holiday per 13-week contract period; weekend availability required (every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Cardiovascular experience including pre- and post-cardiac catheterization care
• Experience managing endocrine and metabolic conditions including IV insulin administration
• Comfort working in high-acuity float pool environments with variable patient ratios (PCU 5:1; MS up to 7:1)
