Octobar is a busy cocktail bar and international tapas restaurant in Federal Hill, Baltimore. We are looking for an experienced, motivated Chef/Kitchen Manager to take leadership of our kitchen and help us continue to improve our food program.

This is an excellent opportunity for a chef who enjoys being hands-on in the kitchen , developing food, leading a small team, and having a real voice in the operation.

What You’ll Do

·         Lead daily kitchen operations and service

·         Prepare and execute our international tapas menu

·         Maintain consistent food quality, presentation, and portion control

·         Train, supervise, and schedule kitchen staff

·         Manage food ordering, receiving, storage, and inventory

·         Control food costs and minimize waste

·         Maintain kitchen cleanliness and health-department standards

·         Develop new dishes and seasonal specials

·         Help improve kitchen systems, prep procedures, and efficiency

·         Work closely with management to improve the overall food program

·         Lead by example during busy service

What We’re Looking For

·         Professional restaurant kitchen experience

·         Previous experience as a Chef, Sous Chef, Kitchen Manager, or strong Lead Cook

·         Ability to lead a small kitchen team

·         Strong organizational and communication skills

·         Excellent understanding of food safety and sanitation

·         Experience with ordering, inventory, and food-cost control

·         Ability to work calmly and efficiently during busy service

·         Reliable, professional, and team-oriented

·         Creativity and enthusiasm for food

A culinary degree is a plus but is not required.

We’re more interested in what you can do in a kitchen and how you lead a team than in titles.
