Head Coach - Men's Tennis

Head Coach – Men's Tennis Villanova University, Villanova, PA. Full‑time, 12‑month position. Salary: $71,700–$89,600 (Grade 16). Classification: Exempt. Responsibilities Student‑athlete development: Provide technical skill instruction at practices; conduct individual training sessions; design and execute practice plans; prepare team for matches with strategies and organized practices; develop scouting reports on opponents; monitor student‑athlete academic progress to ensure eligibility; coordinate injury rehabilitation with physicians and sports‑medicine staff; collaborate with strength & conditioning staff on physical conditioning. Program administration and fiscal management: Plan and direct program operations; liaise with athletic travel staff for travel arrangements; coordinate with equipment manager for uniforms and equipment; submit expense reports; supervise travel well‑being of student‑athletes. NCAA compliance: Ensure program compliance with NCAA rules; schedule compliance education; prepare and submit required compliance forms (practice logs, recruiting folders, official visit forms, etc.); monitor academic progress and eligibility; follow up on compliance issues. Recruiting: Evaluate and recruit prospective student‑athletes; communicate via phone, email, letters, and social media; plan and conduct scouting of prospects, including events and competitions; perform home visits; manage official and unofficial visits per university and NCAA policies; oversee recruitment compliance and enrollment details; coordinate admissions and financial aid applications. Academics, service, marketing, and development: Monitor academic standing; assist in fundraising events; aid in marketing the program, department, and university; design community service events that reflect Villanova ideals. Assistant coach management: Recruit, hire, train, and direct assistant coaches; delegate responsibilities; conduct performance reviews; determine staff compensation within budget and university guidelines; manage staff work schedules. Supervise assistant coaches, including asst. coach M/W tennis. Qualifications Formal education: Bachelor’s degree required (may be waived with sufficient professional experience). Specific job knowledge: Understanding of budget issues and funds management; knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; extensive knowledge of tennis; commitment to Villanova’s mission and student‑athlete experience. Minimum work experience: Five years or more of progressive experience in collegiate programs, preferably at Division I level; Division I playing or coaching experience is a plus. Work skills: Excellent organization and communication; attention to detail; ability to interact effectively with student‑athletes, staff, alumni, parents, and donors. Equipment knowledge: Proficiency with personal computer applications. Preferred: Head coaching experience. Physical Requirements Professional work environment. Occasional lifting, carrying equipment, walking. Significant travel required. Significant night and weekend hours.
