Job Title Mobile Diesel Technician Level II – DOT Management Level – Individual Contributor – Flexible work (remote possible but must reside within the specified city, state, or region). Travel is 100% of the time. Shift: Day. Compensation Hourly base pay rate $26.73 – $40.10 per hour. Additional compensation may include commission and incentive programs. Job Description The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II performs licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, electrical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. Must learn advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques under supervision and comply with company performance metrics. Duties Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, starter, alternator, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, and differentials. Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment components. Inspect, test, and evaluate defective equipment using handheld computers and pressure gauges; road‑test vehicles to confirm proper operation. Identify problems, determine relevance of information, and evaluate alternatives using sound judgment. Independently manage parts inventory on the company‑issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections. Communicate effectively with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information, resolve problems, and meet expectations. Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks. Document all work on Repair Orders (RO) using the company iOS device and TRAIT application, including photos of work performed and parts used. Accurately complete DOT forms and other required documentation in a timely manner. Work independently, managing own daily schedule and maintaining productivity within or close to standard repair times. Requirements High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field; or other combinations such as a degree or certification beyond HS diploma and 5 years of experience. Possess a complete set of hand tools necessary for duties. Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months. Pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical, or provide a valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining. Be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
