Mobile Diesel Technician Level II The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II will be responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. Under the supervision of a Sr Mobile Diesel Technician or higher, the Technician II can perform more advanced diagnostics and repairs and continues to learn additional advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques. The Technician II must comply with all company policies and achieve high‑level performance metrics.

DUTIES

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentials. Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment using hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road‑test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation. Identify problems, determine the accuracy and relevance of information, and generate and evaluate alternatives. Independently manage parts inventory, perform periodic reconciliation, and obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary. Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and pre‑ and post‑trip inspections. Work with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, or satisfy expectations. Prioritize concurrent assigned tasks and manage daily schedule independently. Document all work according to company standards, upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings on repair orders (RO) using a company‑issued iOS device and the TRAIT application. Accurately complete DOT forms and all other documentation in a timely fashion. Operate in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.

REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or GED and 3 years of experience in a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties. Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months. Pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment. Maintain a current DOT Medical Card with more than four (4) months remaining until expiration, or obtain a DOT physical if less than four months remain. Be at least 21 years of age in compliance with interstate operating authority commerce regulations. Hold a valid driver’s license and maintain a Driver Qualification File. USD 26.73 – 40.10 per hour. Hourly base rate may vary within the expected range based on location and qualifications.
