The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II The Mobile Diesel Technician II performs licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. This technician can perform more advanced diagnostics and repairs under the supervision of a Sr Mobile Diesel Technician or higher, continuously learning additional advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques. Compliance with all company policies and achievement of high level performance metrics are expected.

DUTIES

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, and differentials. Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, air conditioning, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road‑test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation. Identify problems, determine the accuracy and relevance of information, and use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives. Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections. Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations. Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work activities and allocating time effectively. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks. Document work according to company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings observed on Repair Orders (RO) using the company‑issued iOS device and TRAIT application. Accurately complete DOT forms and all other required documentation in a timely fashion. Work independently and manage one's daily schedule. Maintain a high level of productivity and work within or close to standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for repairs. Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, or discuss RO findings. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.

REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of related experience, or a higher degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED with at least 5 years of experience. Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties. Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months. Pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical, or submit a current DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until expiration. Be at least 21 years old. Hold a valid state‑of‑residence driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File. REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS OR OBTAINED WITHIN 18 MONTHS ASE T8 (PMI) certification

Additional compensation may include commission or incentive programs.
