Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments to accurately diagnose various mental health disorders in children and adolescents.
• Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans that address the specific needs of each patient, ensuring engagement and collaboration.
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, continually monitoring effectiveness and making necessary dosage adjustments based on patient response.
• Provide psychotherapy using established therapeutic modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT).
• Work collaboratively with other mental health professionals and educators to ensure holistic treatment and optimal patient outcomes.
• Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions and treatment options to promote understanding and facilitate better self-management.
• Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) documenting all patient interactions, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
• Monitor patient progress through regular follow-up appointments, continually assessing treatment effectiveness and addressing any concerns.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case conferences to contribute to holistic care strategies and stay informed about best practices.
• Uphold patient confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines, ensuring a safe environment for all patients.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of this role is on children and adolescents in the school setting. You will work closely with young patients grappling with a range of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and other disorders that affect their academic performance and daily functioning. By providing tailored support, you will help empower these individuals to achieve their full potential both academically and personally.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health.
• Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in Texas.
• Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
• Demonstrated clinical experience in psychiatric and mental health settings.
• Excellent knowledge of psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment methodologies.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working with pediatric populations and an understanding of issues involving child development.
• Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and familiarity with school-based mental health services.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Compensation and Benefits
