Finance OfficerThe City of Chicago is seeking a Finance Officer supporting budgeting staff to prepare Midway's Annual O&M budget. Ensuring Midway Airport expenditures remain within budget and comply with applicable funding and contract guidelines, while maintaining airport operations at appropriate service and performance levels.Essential duties include managing a major and large-scale program or project of significant size and scope in terms of budget, operations, for Midway International Airport; functioning as a specialized advisor to executive-level managers or as a technical specialist or expert-level professional in a given profession, specific technical area, or operational area; preparing an analysis of expenses such as projections and preliminary final budget summaries for budget approval to the CDA Deputy Commissioner of Finance; reviewing budgets to ensure accounts are appropriately allocated; managing the distribution of periodic financial management system (FMS) information reports and highlighting the variance from approved budget to Finance and all Midway's sections; presenting reports that compare performance with plans, budget, and projections; interpreting financial and statistical results; and performing other duties as assigned to meet the overall objective of Midway Airport.Location: Finance Section – Midway International Airport Days: Monday-Friday Hours: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm This position is in the Career Service.QualificationsMinimum qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, plus three (3) years of professional accounting or auditing experience, of which one (1) year is in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position. Should the above criteria not be fulfilled, the following options are acceptable: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a directly related field of Accounting with 15 semester hours in Accounting, plus three (3) years of professional accounting or auditing experience, of which one (1) year is in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position; Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree or higher in Accounting, plus two (2) years of professional accounting or auditing experience, of which one (1) year is in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position; Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in a related field of Accounting with 15 semester hours in Accounting, plus two (2) years of professional accounting or auditing experience, of which one (1) year is in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position.Selection requirements: This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected according to the CBA.
